ACHIEVING SUCCESS BY BECOMING MORE FLEXIBLE

WHAT QUALIFIES AS FLEXIBLE BEHAVIOR?

What comes to your mind when I say the word flexibility? Maybe a ballerina, twisting and turning her body in ways you couldn’t imagine.

But no, that’s not it. Physical flexibility is just one branch of the whole tree.

An evergreen tree that would make your whole life beautiful.

The tree, as I metaphorically termed it, is nourished by free-flowing thoughts.

Sounds complicated? Here’s a more simple, candid, and precise version.

Flexibility starts with allowing your thoughts to transcend boundaries. Boundaries, that hinder greatness.

It requires you to cross borders. Shed inhibitions. Essentially the ‘what ifs’.

Am I talking about the boundaries between right and wrong? Universal rules?

No, absolutely not. I’m talking about man-made rules that are widely believed and seldom verified.

HOW WOULD I KNOW WHICH BOUNDARIES TO RESPECT?

The gauge? It’s within you. Your heart, your gut feeling, your instinct. It’s something to be felt rather than described in words.

But here are a few practical examples to not keep you guessing.

One career didn’t work? Try another. Nobody understands? Make new friends. Barred from mingling with a group? Make sure it’s not just an absurd tradition. Keep failing academically? Change the focused subject.

Bottom line: experience life yourself rather than obeying obsolete norms. Something that only being flexible would allow.

To be rigid or stubborn is equivalent to hampering growth and success. And I’m sure you wouldn’t want that, would you?
